How To Get A Millionaire To Mentor You
This is what I did when I was broke as a joke...
I see this question everywhere…
How do I get a mentor?
You might think it’s being born with a silver spoon…
Or having a big network…
Or paying for it…
While those things can help.
There’s ONE skill that stands out and will almost guarantee that people ahead of you would be GLAD to give them your time.
And that skill is…
Asking great questions.
Why?
It shows preparation, interest and willingness to be coached.
All traits mentors look for in potential mentees.
Just think about the opposite.
And put yourself in the shoes of the mentor.
There’s no worse feeling than helping someone for them to not do anything in the end.
Nobody wants to help a procrastinator.
It’s low vibration and sucks the energy right out of you.
So what’s the right approach?
I’ll give you an example right now…
How to ask great questions:
When you're a beginner and you walk up to someone more experienced for advice.
The WORST thing you can do is ask something that's extremely general.
"Hey, I want to start affiliate marketing. Any advice?"
Brother. You are not even at the starting point. Plus I got zero context of your situation. Financial and skill wise.
Try this instead...
Get started and FAIL.
Then you will have a real problem and a solid case study - which makes answering your question easier.
"Hey, I spent 150 bucks on this weight loss product, I produced 100 clicks, only got 1 sale for 60 bucks. Here's what I'm thinking - I plan to add an advertorial with X angle OR Y angle, which one do you think is more powerful?"
This question shows:
1. That you take damn action.
2. That you have skin in the game.
3. That you already used your own free will to come up with next steps instead of waiting for answers to fall on your lap.
4. That you make it easy to give an answer.
This is how you get mentors. You impress with action. There's no substitute.
Now comes the most important part…
You execute with NO QUESTIONS asked.
No ifs, buts or doubt.
Execute EXACTLY on the advice given to you.
No matter how weird.
Or how hard it goes against your world view or belief system.
I remember entering a market I knew nothing about.
A mentor back then gave me advice on a few marketing hooks.
I thought it was absolute nonsense.
And that there was NO WAY it would work.
Still…
I was reminded of a story by 50 Cent.
He was talking about Pop Smoke.
How he met up with the young rapper and gave him advice.
But Pop Smoke kept checking his phone during the conversation.
Angry, 50 Cent walked up to check out what the hell he was doing.
And to his surprise, 50 Cent was taking notes on his phone.
That was the first time he ever saw someone doing that.
Pop Smoke would follow his advice to a T.
The lesson here is that when you get advice from someone that is ahead of you in the industry. You run with it.
So I did the same. I followed the advice to a T, even though I didn’t think it would work.
Guess what happened.
That marketing promotion was my first big success. The campaign ended up scaling to a consistent 20,000 USD per month.
On my trip in London, hitting my first 1500 dollars in a single day
And when the person giving you advice sees you are SERIOUS and EXECUTE…
That’s when you have EARNED yourself a mentor.
